Join us for this year's 31st annual International Society Conference online and available worldwide:
“Gathering Light and Truth from All Nations: ‘To Make Ready a People Prepared for the Lord’”
6-7 April 2021, 9:00-11:30am
Presenters include Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Reverend Andrew Teal, Professor Melissa Inouye, Thomas McConkie, Fiona Givens, Ravi M. Gupta, and more.
In the teachings of the Restoration we witness an outpouring of divine light and truth that have blessed the lives of millions as the Gospel has been preached around the world. As part of ongoing revelation, we have been taught that other nations and cultures have also been blessed by “a portion of God’s light. Moral truths were given them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals” (1978 First Presidency statement). Joseph Smith taught, “One of the grand fundamental principles of ‘Mormonism’ is to receive truth, let it come from whence it may.” The Prophet exhorted Church members to “gather all the good and true principles in the world and treasure them.”
Questions and issues that to be discussed will include:
How has our understanding of the Restored Gospel been enhanced by good and true principles that Saints around the world have gained from their cultural and moral environments?
How has the Restored Gospel deepened our appreciation for the truths that exist in other cultures and religious traditions?
How might other faiths and cultures be helping to carry forward the Father’s work in the latter days?
How have converts brought light and truth from their cultural-religious backgrounds that prepared them to recognize and accept Restored Gospel truths?
Due to the global pandemic this year's conference will be held entirely online. The worldwide broadcast begins Tuesday, 6 April 2021 on the Kennedy Center's YouTube chanel at 9:00 to 11:15am and will continue on Wednesday, 7 April 2021 from 9:00-11:00am.
