Sam Dearden currently works for USAID’s Bureau of Policy, Planning, and Learning. Previously, Dearden worked with USAID’s Office of Food for Peace, supporting emergency food aid to South Sudan, Sudan, and Chad. He is interested in service delivery, food security, and diplomacy, and aims to be a Foreign Service officer. His global experience includes time in Latin America, South Asia, and East Africa, and he has worked in Spain, Uganda, Brazil, and the UK. Dearden received a BA in history from Brigham Young University and an MPhil in modern British history from the University of Cambridge. While at BYU, he was president of the Foreign Service Student Organization. In his free time, Dearden enjoys reading, exploring churches, and going on walks with his wife.
